Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Earth Sciences and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Dr Jitendra Singh, has called India’s Partition “the greatest blunder of history.” He made these remarks on Sunday at the 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas commemoration held at the Kashmiri Cultural Centre in New Delhi. Dr Singh also stated that the retrieval of Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, commonly referred to as PoJK, remains the only outstanding issue between India and Pakistan that is yet to be resolved.
The minister emphasized that the partition of the subcontinent in 1947 continues to haunt the region with unresolved territorial disputes and human suffering. Member of Parliament Bansuri Swaraj attended the programme as the Guest of Honour, while Colonel K.K Sharma, a decorated Kargil War veteran who holds the Shaurya Chakra, Sena Medal, and a Bar to his decoration, presided over the function.
The gathering served as both a tribute to the armed forces and a platform for discussing the broader security challenges facing the nation. Dr Singh’s address highlighted the importance of remembering the sacrifices made by soldiers while also addressing the unresolved geopolitical questions that continue to affect the region.
